Nature reserves in Siberia


Most nature reserves of Siberia are located in the area of Lake Baikal, mostly to preserve the unique geosystem of the lake. The most convenient way to get there is by Russian trains. The territory of all Nature Reserves is protected by the government of the country. The territory of nature reserves of the region preserves landscape and biological diversity of species of flora and fauna. There are various kind of Nature reserves and national parks located in the area of Lake Baikal.

Dzerginsky Nature Reserve is located on the northeastern shore of the Lake Baikal in the republic of Byryatia. Most Russia travel guide speak about this beautiful place.The reserve occupies an area of more than 230000 hectares. The center of this nature reserve is a glacial hollow Amutskav, where the clearest lakes are situated. The nature reserve was established in the last decade of the 20th century.

Baikalsky Biosphere Nature Reserve on the southern shores of Lake Baikal. It was founded in 1969 and since is one of the famous ones in Siberia with tourist taking Russia vacation. Various kinds of animals and birds can be found there, some of them are rare and can be seen only there.
